Really helps beat the heat. I'm in the Texas heat and drought. I have Central Air and a small window A/C in the bedroom. Still the house gets up to about 85 everyday. Bought this to help try to cool the house. This works great when working from home I can roll it up to me and it really helps cool me off. Very Cold. Also, it does not put off much hot air from the back and very little water goes in the inside bucket daily. My sister also has one that she took to school she teaches and it get very hot in her room. It works great for her because it does not need to be vented. My son and my husband complained that the house was as cold as a meat locker. If they turned up the thermostat, I'd feel ill. I purchased a "swamp cooler" for my office, and it works well, but it has to be refilled every four hours and that's not going to help me sleep. I purchased a fan with a sponge, and that is lovely for a quick blast of cool air on my face while I'm cooking or outdoors, but the sponge dries out in about two hours. So what to do about sleep? I wound up with this. It keeps me cool and comfortable through the night. My husband asked me if it doesn't make the room warmer and I said, "it certainly might - it blows hot air out the back and cold air out the front." It doesn't matter to me, because the room is comfortable for us both - I get the benefit of the cold air on me, and the rest of the room and house are comfortable for everyone else. Everything cool that emits from the front of the unit is quickly cancelled by the furnace of hot air escaping from the back. I should've known better. |
